| PRAIRIE WOODS AUDUBON PHOTO CONTEST 2009! Illinois has excellent birding, a beautiful landscape and abundant wildlife. Prairie Woods Audubon wishes to foster our curiosity and care for the wonderful flora and fauna in Illinois. We know how important it is to preserve wildlife and habitat. So, we encourage all of you to show us via your photographs, the wild beauty of our state. PRIZES The winner of each of 3 categories will receive a $30 certificate from Wild Birds Unlimited (http: //www.wbu.com/.) and a Prairie Woods Audubon Gift Pack. Various prizes will be given for runner-ups such as monoculars, calendars, socks and books! DEADLINE Entries must be postmarked by midnight, Jan. 7, 2010! Winners will be announced at the PWA Open House PIZZA PARTY on Feb. 18, 2010 at Spring Valley Nature Center in Schaumburg, IL. RULES 1.The contest is open to all. No age limit. No Audubon affiliation is necessary. A love of nature is mandatory! 2.Matting, mounting board, and framing is allowed but not necessary. 3.CDs are allowed using JPEG or GIF formats. 4.Any obvious “photo-shopping” will be grounds for disqualification. 5.There are three categories (see below). Up to 5 photographs can be submitted. All five may be in a single category or you may spread them among the three categories. 6.All photos must be submitted with the completed entry form and appropriate entry fees. 7.Fees: $2.00 per photo. CATEGORIES 1.Animals. Wild animals free in nature such as birds, reptiles, mammals and so on. No human structures. 2.Flora, Sky, Landscapes, Water, Geology… Prairie, sunsets, stars, rocks, mushrooms, forests and so on. No human structures in photograph. 3.People in Nature. People communing with nature in some way: fishing, birding, gardening, collecting prairie seeds, yoga in the forest, etc. Be creative! JUDGING Judging will be based on Composition, Creativity, Originality, Impact, and Technique by a panel of judges with expertise in photography and nature.
